Xbox Game Bar: Display FPS - how it works

Microsoft wants to establish the Xbox Game Bar in PC gaming by all means. To make this work, the tool is getting more and more features. In the meantime, you can even display the FPS - and we show how it works.

Meanwhile, the Xbox Game Bar lets you see your FPS among other metrics.

The Xbox Game Bar connects the gaming worlds of Windows and Xbox, as explained in this guide. The FPS display was introduced in October 2019.

Xbox Game Bar: How to see your FPS

Proceed as follows:
  1. Press "Windows Key" + "G" to open the Xbox Game Bar.
  2. Open "Overlay Menu."
  3. Click "Performance."
  4. There you will see various performance metrics as tabs. Select the last entry "FPS".
  5. Click "Request Access".
To keep the overlay, you need to click the pin ("Pin") at the top of the window. However, moving the window only works in non-pinned mode. So move the display to the desired location first before pinning it. In addition to the frame rate, you can also display the utilization of the CPU, RAM, and graphics card; this can be done via checkbox. Also note that the FPS display (as of November 2019) is still in the beta phase. Ein reibungsloser Ablauf ist deswegen nicht immer garantiert.
