Hide Drive in Windows: How to

To prevent a partition from being immediately visible to anyone using your computer, you can hide a drive under Windows. The easiest way to do this is through Disk Management, where you remove the drive letter.

Important info before hiding a drive in Windows

If you want to hide a drive in Windows, you can simply remove the drive letter. However, it is imperative to note that you must not remove the drive letter of the partition where you have installed your operating system. Because if you hide this drive, Windows cannot be accessed when you want to start your PC. As a result, you would have to completely reboot it or remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer.

Change drive in Disk Management

So that your PC does not become unusable, it is best to create a new partition, which you then hide as follows:

1. Right-click the Windows icon at the bottom left in Windows 10 and select "Disk Management". In Windows 7, you can find it under "Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Data Storage > Disk Management".
