Windows 10: Hide search bar - how to do it

The fastest way to use the search function in Windows 10 is to click on the search icon in the taskbar. However, if the displayed search bar bothers you or you do not use it, you can hide it. How to do this correctly, we explain here.

One of the many new features in Windows 10 is that by default, you'll see a search icon in the taskbar. If you click the circular icon, a search box will open where you can type in a search term. If the search field in the taskbar bothers you, you have the option to hide it.

1. To do this, first right-click on the search icon or on a free space in the taskbar to open the context menu.
2. In the menu, then select the "Cortana" category and click on the "Hide" option there so that the search icon is removed from the taskbar.
3. If you want to show the search icon again at a later time, simply open the context menu again and select the option "Show Cortana icon" under "Cortana".

To do this, first click on the "Windows icon" at the bottom left to open the Start menu and then type a search term using the keyboard.
