Google Maps: How to enable live location

If you have a date and want to get together on the go, live location is a very handy tool. This is also on board with Google Maps and we explain how you can use it.

Live location lets friends and acquaintances see where you are.

Live tracking of your location is possible in various services. For the leading map service Google Maps, the feature is therefore a matter of course.

How to use the live location on Google Maps

You activate the live location as follows:

1. Open the menu in the Maps app on your computer (icon with three dashes in the upper left corner).
2. Select "Location sharing".
3. In the next step, you can specify how long your live location should be recorded. You can enter fixed times or select "Until deactivation".
4. Followed by select who is authorized to see your location. All possible communication channels such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram or email are available to you.

Keep in mind that location tracking must be activated on your smartphone so that you can use the feature.Google Maps: How to share your live location on the mobile device If you use Google Maps on your mobile device, please open the Maps app to share your live location and log in to your account. After that, tap on your profile picture and navigate to "Location Sharing" > "Add People". There you can now select from your contacts the people with whom you want to share your location or copy the link to the location and share it later via SMS or email.
