iPhone: disable location services
Apps regularly request the location of your iPhone. This can be helpful if you want to receive news or weather data from your surroundings. However, not everyone wants to constantly reveal their position. Another reason to disable location services is battery consumption.
How to turn off location services on your iPhone
Many apps use your device's location service to pinpoint your position. This is necessary, for example, if you want to have the weather of your city displayed. But if you do not want to share your position constantly, you can deactivate the service via the settings.- Open the "Settings" on your iPhone.
- Tap on the item "Privacy".
- Select "Location Services".
- Swipe to the left to deactivate the location services.
- Confirm your decision by tapping on "Deactivate".
- Scroll down to see all apps that access this service.
How to turn off location services for individual apps
- Tap the app you want to customize.
- Select whether to enable location services "Always", "Never", or only "When using the app". "Always" grants the app access to location data even in the background. "Never" does not allow access to location services. "When using the app" grants the app access to location data only when the app is displayed in the foreground. As soon as you close the app, location services will also be disabled again.
- In addition, you can select "Ask next time". This item gives you the options "Allow when using the app", "Allow once" and "Don't allow".
