Nvidia: Turing graphics cards at a glance - all info

Graphics cards appear in generations. These are based on a certain architecture and in the case of Nvidia's GeForce family, the name Turing is currently in vogue. We provide an overview of this.

Big name, big impact: The Turing family wrote a piece of graphics card history.

Nvidia's Turing models appeared in 2019 and subsequently dominated the market for desktop solutions. It was only replaced in the fall of 2020 with the Ampere architecture.

Nvidia GeForce: These graphics cards rely on Turing

GeForce cards with Turing architecture include the following models:
  • The entire model range with the 2000 numbers corresponds to the Turing family.
  • More precisely, these are all GeForce RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 including the "Super" and "Ti" variants.
  • In the consumer market, the GeForce 2080 Ti was considered the reference for high-end graphics cards. Nvidia's rival AMD could not offer any competition on par in this segment.
In the history of graphics cards, the Turing models take on a special role, as ray tracing was introduced with them. This technology allowed a significant leap in graphic effects, even if it required a lot of power. All future graphics cards, whether from Nvidia or from AMD, will therefore always lead back to the appearance of the Turing cards in 2020.
