If you want to protect your Android device from unauthorized access, you can choose a PIN. After that, you will have to re-enter the chosen digits on the lock screen every time you turn on the device.

What other options besides a PIN are there on Android?

On Android, it is not only possible to include a PIN as a lock. Depending on the model, you can also turn on a pattern, a password (made of letters and numbers), your fingerprint, or facial recognition. The security varies depending on the length and complexity of the desired method. The most reliable and secure option is considered to be a long password consisting of letters and numbers. However, a PIN consisting of numbers only is more convenient. How long this combination of numbers is you decide.

Change the PIN of the Android phone

To change the PIN, you need to know your current PIN. Proceed like this:

1. Open the settings of your device. These can be found in the apps on the home screen.
2. Find the item "Biometrics and security".
3. Click here on the setting option for the PIN. Depending on the device and Android version, this may be called "screen lock", "Samsung Pass" or similar. Then you will be prompted to enter your old PIN.
4. Now you can select the type of protection. Click on the item "PIN".
