Import Windows 10 Contacts

Windows 10 has its own contact list where you can add the contact details of your friends, relatives and work colleagues. Of course, you can also import and use existing contacts with a few simple steps.

Windows 10 Contacts unfortunately cannot import CSV or VCF files (file formats used to export contact lists). You can only add a contact individually using the plus icon. However, there is a little trick you can use to import contacts. However, you need to use a Microsoft account for this.

How to import contacts in Windows 10?

If you have a file for import, you can easily add your contacts via Windows 10. This way you don't have to re-enter each contact individually.
  1. You must be logged in to Windows 10 with a Microsoft account. Do not have a Microsoft account, just create one.
  2. Now go to the Microsoft Outlook page and log in there with your account.
  3. Click on the icon with the three dashes at the top and select "All contacts".
  4. Then click on "Import contacts".
  5. Now you get a choice from which area you want to import the contacts. Among others, there are Google, Yahoo and Windows Live Mail. If you want to import a CSV file, press "Other".
  6. Now use "Browse" to select the file and import it.
  7. All new contacts are now imported into your Windows 10 contact list via your Microsoft account.
If you expand or otherwise change your contact list, any changes will be propagated to all devices where you are logged in with your Windows 10 account.
