If you work a lot with your Mac, it is beneficial to lock the device as soon as you leave the PC. The security method prevents unauthorized third parties from accessing your data. Even if children live in your household, it makes sense to lock the Mac. This way you prevent careless data loss.

Setting up a screen lock on your Mac

With a screen lock no one can work on your Mac without entering the password first. This is advantageous, for example, if you leave your workplace for a longer period of time, but your computer needs to be in operation. This way you protect the contents on your Mac and deny unauthorized people access to files, processes and more.

How to set up screen lock on Mac

1. Next to the time you will see a magnifying glass in the menu bar. Enter the term "Keychain Management" here.
2. You will find the application either under "Programs" or "Top Hits". Open the program.
3. Navigate now to the settings.
4. Set a check mark at "Show keychain bar" and close the program afterwards.
5. Click on the new software in your menu bar.
6. This has the symbol of a lock. Klicken Sie darauf und wählen Sie die Option „Bildschirm schützen“ an.
