Apple Mail: Create a signature - here's how to do it

Both on the Mac and on your iOS devices, you have the option to add a pre-written signature to emails. The pre-written text is automatically inserted into the mail as soon as you send it. Learn how to create such a signature here.

How to create an Apple Mail signature on your Mac

If you want to automatically add a signature to your emails when you send them, you can do so using the Mail app on your Mac. There you have the option to set signatures for your saved email inboxes.
  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac and call up the settings.
  2. Switch to the "Signatures" tab.
  3. Select a mail account in the left column for which you want to create a signature.
  4. Click below the middle column on the plus symbol to create and name a new signature.
  5. In the right column you can then create your signature.
  6. Click at "Select signature" on the drop-down menu and select the newly created signature. Only then the pre-made text will be added automatically when sending mails.

Set signature from iPhone or iPad

Alternatively to the Mac, you can also set your own email signature directly from your iPhone or iPad. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap the "Mail" menu item.
  3. In the "Compose" category, tap the "Signature" option.
  4. Set a signature using the text box. Sie können entweder eine Signatur für alle eingespeicherten Mail-Accounts festlegen oder für jedes Konto eine eigene.
