Micro SD memory card: remove write protection

If you are about to copy data from your micro SD memory card, but nothing works, then you need to remove the write protection. This works both physically on the card and via a setting in Windows.

Removing the write-protect switch on the micro SD memory card

If your micro SD card is suddenly write-protected, this is often due to the fact that the corresponding switch for it has been flipped by mistake. This is located on the side of the small card. So simply flip it to the other side. Sometimes you can also remove the write protection by flipping the switch of the micro SD memory card only halfway. If you have the problem more often, you can simply fix the small lever with a piece of tape.

Turning the switch does nothing

If you flip the switch, but the data on the card still can not be changed, then there is also a way to remove the write protection via the Windows on-board tools.
  1. Connect the micro SD memory card to your PC via adapter.
  2. Then open a new Explorer window via Windows key + E and click "Computer" in the navigation bar on the left.
  3. Now right-click the entry for the memory card and select "Properties" in the context menu.
  4. Switch to the "Sharing" tab and select "Advanced Sharing".
  5. Dann klicken Sie unter „Diesen Ordner freigeben“ auf „Berechtigungen“.
  6. Setzen Sie nun einfach ein Häkchen ganz oben bei „Vollzugriff“.
  7. Beenden Sie abschließend alle Fenster mit „OK“.
