How to: Access Point on the FritzBox

If you buy a second router or still have a discarded FritzBox, you can use it as an access point.
  1. Reset the FritzBox you want to set up as an access point to factory settings.
  2. Then connect it to power. Do not connect it to the other router yet, but connect your PC via WLAN.
  3. Then call up the user interface at http://fritz.box. Enter the password that you usually find on a sticker directly on the FritzBox and follow the steps of the setup wizard.
  4. Once you are asked about the Internet provider, select "Existing access via LAN" and click "Next".
  5. Click "Next" again.
  6. Now connect the access point to your router via Ethernet cable. Use the interface LAN1 for this.
  7. Click "Next", you will be taken to the summary of settings. Make sure that "Check Internet connection after saving settings" is checked and click "Next".
The setup is now complete. You should at the main router or modem best disable the WLAN. So the signals of this router and the access point do not interfere with each other.
