If you have two routers, you can use one device as a repeater. This way you improve reception in rooms that are a bit further away from the active router. We show you how to set up your FritzBox as a repeater and what requirements are necessary.
Whether you can use your FritzBox as a repeater depends on the firmware version. Namely, the repeater function is integrated only from Fritz OS 6.0.Use FritzBox as a repeater: Simple configuration - but only from Fritz OS 6
If your router meets this requirement, connect it to the PC via LAN cable or WLAN and proceed as follows:- Open the router menu of your FritzBox. You can get there by entering fritz.box in the address bar of your browser or via the IP address of the FritzBox.
- After you have logged in with your login data, select the item "WLAN" in the menu.
- Click on "Repeater" there. Then select your WLAN network as the base station. Enter the network key and the router connects to the network as a repeater.
With these steps you set up the repeater:
- Plug the repeater into the wall socket, in the room where it is to improve the signal range in the future.
- Call up the address "http://fritz.repeater/" and enter 00000000 as the key.
- Now you are in the menu of the repeater and the setup wizard will guide you step by step through the setup process, requiring you to set your own password and select a network.
