Excel: Set alignment individually - here's how

Normally, any text content runs horizontally from left to right. But in Excel, it can happen that the cell is too narrow for this - and then the options in the alignment provide a remedy. Here you can set everything to fit your text.

You can align your Excel cell contents in any direction you want.

Excel: Change alignment of text in cells

Waiting, vertical, diagonal, or even upside down: In Excel, you can align text content as you like. This requires only a few clicks, and in addition to the practical benefits, the visual effects of alignment can also be a reason to try out an alternative to the usual.
  1. Click on the cell in question.
  2. In the "Start" tab, you will see the "Alignment" area. Here you will find all the common options. There, click on the icon that shows "down" with an arrow (in diagonal alignment).
  3. All the alignment options will appear, for example, "Rotate counterclockwise" or "Vertical text". Click on the desired option.
  4. The alignment will be active in the selected cell, automatically adjusting the cell height so that the cell content remains fully visible.
If you want to undo the alignment changes, you can click "Undo" immediately afterwards at the top. Alternatively, select the cell and choose "Delete" and then "Delete Formats". Then all the changes you made to the cell's format will be undone.
