Spotify: Disable autoplay - prefer to listen individually

While Spotify's autoplay feature is very useful as it lets you have similar songs played to you, this is only useful if all your fellow listeners share the same taste in music. If you want to use Spotify to play music at a party, it's better to turn the feature off.

Disable Autoplay

To make the listening experience more enjoyable for users, Spotify has set Autoplay to be enabled by default.
  1. Open the Spotify app and log in with your credentials. Click on the arrow located next to your profile name.
  2. Select "Settings" in the menu that appears. A new drop-down menu will now open in front of you, from which you can click on the "Library" selection.
  3. In the upper right corner of your screen you will find a gear wheel that you need to select.
  4. Now scroll down to the "Autoplay" item. If you have not made any changes so far, then the slider that is next to the function should be highlighted in green.
  5. To disable Autoplay, you need to flip the slider. If the function is turned off, the slider should now have a gray background.
  6. As soon as you want to apply the function again, move the slider again.

Check your settings

Updates or other changes may cause Spotify's settings to revert to default. This can become a problem if you want to use the music service for entertaining a society composed of people with different tastes.
