Depth of field in photography: what's behind it

Depth of field, or rather depth of field, is a measure that describes the extent of the sharp area. This phenomenon occurs primarily in photography, as it describes the size of the range of distance at which an object being photographed is in focus.

What is depth of field

Depth of field is actually called depth of field or depth of field. This describes, especially in photography, the area in which an object is still sufficiently sharp. The depth of field depends on various factors that you as a photographer should take into account. In principle, depth of field is the extension of sharpness into the depth of an image.

1. A large depth of field or small depth of blur can be achieved with the aid of a small aperture. Alternatively, use a lens with a short focal length.
2. In contrast, you can use only a small range of depth of field. This way, only a small area, such as a person's face, is in focus, while the rest of the image is out of focus. This stylistic device is also known as the "film look."
3. Note that the sensor size can also have an effect on depth of field. Dieser lässt sich in den meisten Kameras allerdings nicht austauschen.
