Using Alexa on the PC - this is how it works

Fans of Amazon's voice assistant Alexa do not have to do without using it on their PC. If you have a PC with Windows 10 as operating system, you can install and set up the Alexa app on it.

How to install Alexa on PC

For some time now, Amazon's voice assistant Alexa has also been available in a version for computers. If you have a PC or laptop with Windows 10, you can install Alexa on it and use.
  1. To install Alexa on the Windows 10 computer, you need an Internet connection and an Amazon account.
  2. If the requirements are met, open the Windows Store on your PC and download the Alexa app from it.
  3. After launching the app, please log in with your Amazon account and follow the further instructions to set up the voice assistant.
  4. After the setup, you can activate the voice assistant with the command "Alexa". Please note that on some devices, you will need to click the Alexa icon beforehand to prompt the app to listen.

How to use Alexa on Windows PC

Have you set up Alexa on your PC, the settings from other Alexa devices are directly available on the PC. Skills that have already been activated, for example to control your smart home, are also available in the Alexa app for Windows. Browsing for new skills and activating them, as well as adding new routines and contacts, are not yet possible in the Windows version of the app. Instead, you have access to Amazon's music streaming offering in the Alexa app for Windows.
