iPhone X: Disable code lock - how to do it

Using the code or Face ID, you protect your iPhone X and the data on it from unauthorized access by others. Apple offers various options in the settings of the smartphone to adjust the code or even completely disable the protective function.

How to disable the code lock on your iPhone X

To turn off the lock, you need to go to the iPhone X settings. Instead of the fingerprint, the iPhone X uses Face ID. Here, the smartphone recognizes your face by means of the front camera and thus unlocks the device. This saves you from entering a code.Follow these steps to disable the code lock:
  1. Call the "Settings" app and navigate to the category "Face ID & Code".
  2. There you will find the option "Disable Code".
However, keep in mind that if you have also turned off the Face ID feature, your iPhone X is unprotected and anyone can unlock the device.

Set a new code

If you want to activate the code lock again, you need to set a new code.
  1. Access the "Settings" app again and there the category "Face ID & Code".
  2. Tap on "Activate code".
  3. Now set a new, six-digit code. If this is too long for you, you can switch to a four-digit code via the code options. Außerdem haben Sie die Möglichkeit, einen numerischen oder alphanumerischen Code festzulegen.
  4. Geben Sie den neuen Code zur Bestätigung erneut ein.
