Easy-to-follow instructions for perfectly sliced tomatoes

Special tomato knives are best for slicing tomatoes. These have a blade with a fine serrated edge that cuts effortlessly through the firmer tomato skin. If you do not have a tomato knife at hand, a simple vegetable knife is recommended. With the claw grip, the fingertips point to the inside of your hand so that you can guide the knife along your fingers in a controlled manner.
  1. Before you cut the tomatoes, wash them thoroughly in the sink. This will remove pesticide residue and dirt from the tomatoes. Then pat the skin dry with paper towels.
  2. Quarter the tomatoes and remove the green stalks. Use a sharp kitchen knife to cut out the core mixture from the quartered tomatoes. The tomato seeds can be easily chopped into small pieces, and the tomato flesh cut into cubes or wedges as desired.
  3. Also, make sure that you cut the tomato with the stalk down. This keeps the chambers and the tomato seeds do not fall out directly when cutting.
  4. If it is cherry tomatoes, it offers to use two plates. Put the cherry tomatoes on one of the plates and then put the other plate on top. There is a gap between the plates for the knife. Use a long kitchen knife and apply light pressure on the top plate so that no tomato slips out.
