Excel: Move columns - this option is available

The spreadsheet program Excel offers you all the functions you need to manage larger amounts of data. In addition to rows, you also have the option to move columns in the software. This is especially necessary if you subsequently insert a column or if a column is in the wrong position.

How to move columns in Excel

If you have inserted a column incorrectly or you want to insert another column afterwards, you can move it in Excel.

1. First, click on the column you want to move to highlight it.
2. Move your mouse to the connection point to the adjacent column within your Excel document.
3. If you find yourself in the right place, your cursor will turn into an arrow pointing in all four directions.
4. Now hold down the Shift key or the Shift key respectively.
5. When you hold down the left mouse button, you can move the column to the desired location within the document.
6. Let go of the keys again afterwards.

So schneiden Sie Spalten aus

Möchten Sie eine Spalte nicht verschieben, können Sie diese ausschneiden und anschließend einfügen.

1. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf den Buchstaben der Spalte, die Sie ausschneiden möchten.
2. Wählen Sie „Ausschneiden“ oder drücken Sie die Tastenkombination „Strg“ + „X“.
3. Klicken Sie nun auf eine andere leere Spalte. Auch hier können Sie entweder über einen Rechtsklick auf „Einfügen“ oder über die Tastenkombination „Strg“ + „V“ die Spalte einfügen.
4. Möchten Sie die Spalte nicht ersetzen, sondern davor einsetzen, dann wählen Sie „Ausgeschnittene Zellen einfügen“.
