Freeze Excel: How to fix rows and columns

If you want a row or column to be visible even when you scroll the worksheet, you can freeze it. Excel already offers you the appropriate function for this. This can be useful, for example, if you want to constantly show the headings of the columns to be able to assign the data.

How to freeze rows and columns in Excel

In Excel, there are several functions available to help you work on your tables. Especially with large amounts of data, a table can quickly become confusing. Especially when you scroll down and can no longer see the headings of the columns. In this case, you can freeze columns and rows in Excel. So they always remain visible - regardless of where you are.

1. Go to the top of Excel on the tab "View".
2. Now select the option "Freeze window".
3. Now a selection has opened. Here you can select, for example, the option "First column" or "Top row". Die Fixierung ist durch eine dickere schwarze Linie erkenntlich.
4. Möchten Sie stattdessen mehrere Zeilen oder Spalten fixieren, dann müssen Sie diese zunächst auswählen.
5. Anschließend gehen Sie ebenfalls auf „Fenster einfrieren“. Danach wird Ihre Auswahl eingefroren.
6. Die Fixierung können Sie über die gleiche Option beenden. Klicken Sie hier jedoch auf „Fixierung aufheben“, um die Zeilen oder Spalten wieder freizugeben.
