Apple's 27-inch iMac may soon see the light of day. According to DigiTimes, production and shipments of the individual components that will make it up have already started
After the presentation last April of the new 24-inch iMac, the renewal of Apple's range of computers continues, which wants to gradually abandon Intel chips and use only those proprietary M1 series. We can expect something similar for the next model of iMac, expected with a large 27-inch display.
It prepares, therefore, a 2022 in grand style for the Cupertino giant that is preparing to announce several interesting devices in the first part of the new year. In particular, news are expected regarding the iPhone SE series, which should be renewed with a new economic model, and for the iOS operating system, which will be upgraded to version 16. After that, Apple will devote itself to the iPads and the new iPhone 14, on which we could find an exceptional photographic compartment. The iMac with a 27-inch screen would be just the icing on the cake of a year that promises to be extraordinary for the company of the bitten apple.
Apple iMac 27-inch, as it will be
According to what has been revealed by the authoritative Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes, suppliers have begun to ship the components that will make up the new iMac. The device should make use of a 27-inch mini-LED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and ProMotion technology.
To offer top-level performance will once again think the Apple Silicon processors, with the introduction of M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets already present on board the latest MacBook Pro 2021, presented during the Apple Unleashed event held last October 18. Both will improve the performance of an already excellent M1, used on various devices over the past year (even on the 24-inch iMac).
According to reports from some leakers, such asĀ @dylandkt, the 27-inch iMac should have a design similar to that of the 24-inch version and will be available in 7 colors, darker than those of the smaller model.
Apple's 27-inch iMac, when it will arrive
According to these latest rumors, the assembly phase could soon begin and, subsequently, mass production would begin. All this should lead to the debut of this iMac by the first half of 2022, with plenty of features that are yet to be revealed.
As for the price, just consider that the 24-inch version is priced at around 1,499 euros. We could therefore expect a significant increase, not only for the slight increase in the display (from 24 to 27 inches) but also for the introduction of more powerful processors. Should Apple decide to produce the 27-inch iMac still with standard M1 chips, however, the price increase would be lower.
At the moment, no developments are expected for the Apple iMac Pro which, unlike the other models, doesn't look like it could be updated before the second half of next year.
