From startup born among a thousand unknowns and problems, OnePlus has become in a few years a company capable of billing over a billion euros. The last four smartphones launched on the market (OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T) have met with public and critical acclaim.
OnePlus has become famous for smartphones with excellent value for money: usually these devices have the same features as the top of the range of more established companies, but at a much lower price (the OnePlus 5T in the top version - 8GB of RAM and 128GB of memory - is available at 549 euros). A few years ago, OnePlus tried to conquer the mid-range by making the OnePlus X. But the end result did not meet expectations and to date it is the only mistake made by the Chinese company. According to the latest rumors, however, OnePlus would be ready to make a new device for the mid-range: the OnePlus X2. The device should hit the market after the OnePlus 6, expected between May and June.
The features of the OnePlus X2
It must be said that for the moment these are only rumors that have not found confirmation in China. Recently Carl Pei, one of the two founders of OnePlus, said that the company is focused on developing top-of-the-line smartphones, ruling out the arrival of any OnePlus X2. But that's not to say that the company is secretly working on this project.
Asian rumors also offer a spec sheet of what the OnePlus X2 should be. On board we find the Snapdragon 835 chipset supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The choice would fall on this processor for the simple fact that the Chinese company still has many in stock, despite the good results of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The screen would be a classic 5.5-inch panel with FullHD resolution: the same present also on the OnePlus 3. The photo compartment will be composed of a 16-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera with support for Face Unlock technology to unlock the device through face recognition. 3000mAh battery with support for Dash Charge fast charging.
Price and OnePlus X2 release date
The device is expected to see the light after the OnePlus 6, expected to hit the market between late May and early June. As mentioned, the OnePlus X2 should be a mid-range (despite top features), able to face off on equal terms smartphones in the same range but with lower features. The OnePlus X2 should be launched at a price between 250 and 350 euros. If the smartphone will really have these features, it will become one of the best buys of the year.
