Facebook launches its own in-app payments service. It can be used to pay for purchases on Facebook and Instagram and exchange money on WhatsApp
Whether Libra is still on Mark Zuckerberg's radar is unknown, but that Facebook is aiming more and more insistently at the financial sector is now a given. The difficulties that the cryptocurrency project is facing, in fact, have not discouraged Zuckerberg's company, which has just launched Facebook Pay.
As the name suggests, it is a digital payment system that allows you to exchange money on all platforms of the group of Menlo Park. Thanks to Facebook Pay will therefore be possible to send money to our Facebook friends, make payments on WhatsApp and pay for purchases made on Instagram. In short, a viable alternative to the various Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal, which, in the "start up" can count on a comforting base of several billion users. A launched start, in short, that could soon project Facebook Pay in the Olympus of fintech companies.
What you can do with Facebook Pay
As you can read on the page of the new feature introduced within Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, Facebook Pay allows you to make payment transactions of all kinds without having to leave the social platform of Menlo Park. Do you need to return some money to your friend? Just enter the conversation on Messenger, access the payments feature and send the requested money. Saw a shirt you like and it's on sale on Instagram? You will be able to check out directly from your account, without having to open another e-commerce site or platform. As it has been happening for some time in India with WhatsApp Pay, moreover, the new payment method designed by Mark Zuckerberg will allow you to send money to your contacts contacts.
How to make payments on WhatsApp with Facebook Pay
To be able to pay on WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram you will need, first of all, to add a payment method to your Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp profile. To do so, you'll just need to go to Settings of the app and then click on Facebook Pay. Here, you'll just need to add your credit card details - or another payment method accepted by the platform - and confirm everything.
Once the payment method is accepted by the platform, you'll be able to use it in Messenger and Facebook easily and instantly, with a simple tap on the interface to confirm the payment.
