Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will be the most powerful smartwatch

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is imminent, so more information has arrived on their account: not only power but also efficiency and "human" prices

They will have power to spare Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, smartwatches from Samsung that will most likely be presented on August 11 during the annual Galaxy Unpacked event, from which Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will also come out.

The latest chip rumour about the two smartwatches bodes well. There will be a change in the "engine room": retiring the Exynos 9110 chip that debuted three years ago in the first Galaxy Watch and was then also used in the following generations, welcome Exynos W920 on which fall great expectations. The line of smartwatches from Samsung is preparing in fact to a momentous step, namely the abandonment of the Tizen operating system developed by Samsung itself in favor of Android Wear. It means that users will be able to draw from a wider pool of applications and will even be able to install games, for which the previous generation hardware could have easily gone awry while the Exynos W920 should ensure adequate performance.

The technical base of Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

According to information obtained by sammobile.com, the Exynos W920 chip of Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic should be 1.25 times faster in terms of computational capacity, then "brute power", and even 8.8 times more performant at the graphics level, all compared to the previous chip Exynos 9110.

It is always the same portal to report the likely adoption of 16 GB of storage space and 1.5 GB of RAM. You need familiarity with the matter to understand the level of these figures: Samsung's smartwatches have generally had 4 or 8 GB of internal storage, while it makes more sense to relate RAM to the context of smartwatches with Android Wear where in the best cases it came to 1 GB of RAM but often stayed below.

An important step forward in energy efficiency is expected

Beyond power, however, which is important but not too important on a smartwatch, the area in which we expect a decisive step forward is certainly that of energy efficiency, i.e. the balance between performance and consumption.

Samsung Galaxy Watch's Exynos W920 could give an audible shock to the entire Android Wear environment and especially to Qualcomm, whose latest chip - the Snapdragon Wear 4100 - comes out of a 12-nanometer production process while the W920 will be at 5 nanometers. Questo significa tanta efficienza in più, e su dispositivi piccoli dalle batterie quasi irrisorie l’efficienza della base tecnica può fare la differenza in termini di autonomia.
