I numeri finali dell'operazione The Perfect Storm contro la pirateria informatica ci dicono quanti italiani rischiano una multa e una denuncia penale.
Non sono solo gli italiani, ma anche i greci, bulgari, olandesi, francesi, maltesi, tedeschi e gli svizzeri, a voler vedere i contenuti premium in streaming IPTV senza pagare il dovuto. Gli utenti del “pezzotto“, infatti, sono milioni e ora rischiano una denuncia penale e pesantissime multe. This is what emerges from the final report of the operation "The Perfect Storm" conducted in recent days by the Guardia di Finanza of Naples in collaboration with the Postal Police.
The operation, as we told you in recent days when it was still in progress, led to the closure of hundreds of Web sites and Telegram channels used by pirates to illegally transmit channels and events on demand of the major Italian and foreign Pay TV (especially soccer matches, but not only). Now that the operation is over, and there are the final numbers, it is possible to understand how big is the phenomenon of pezzotto and how many users use these services to watch illegally the contents of Netflix, Dazn, Disney+ and other platforms. I numeri, ve lo anticipiamo, fanno paura.
Operazione The Perfect Storm: 50 milioni di utenti
Il numero più impressionante è quello relativo agli utenti dei servizi illegali bloccati e sequestrati dalle autorità: 50 milioni in tutta Europa, 5 milioni in Italia.
Ammontano a 5.500, invece, le “risorse informatiche" sequestrate: server, piattaforme di gestione per l’IPTV, siti vetrina attraverso i quali venivano venduti gli abbonamenti scontati illegali, siti di streaming veri e propri e canali Telegram attraverso i quali circolavano le informazioni su dove vedere illegalmente i contenuti.
Il modo in cui si è svolta l’operazione di polizia ha permesso di scovare ulteriori “risorse“: il fatto che la GdF abbia oscurato la prima manciata di siti ha costretto i pirati a comunicare gli altri siti dove gli utenti potevano vedere i contenuti illegalmente. Ma siccome i canali di comunicazione erano monitorati dai finanzieri è stato possibile individuare subito le ulteriori risorse a disposizione della banda internazionale del pezzotto.
Sono stati quindi ben 30 i decreti di perquisizione dei luoghi fisici, in Italia e all’estero, dai quali veniva trasmesso il segnale pirata e 100 le perquisizioni domiciliari. Sono invece 334 gli account PayPal sui quali gli utenti effettuavano i pagamenti (in alcuni casi anche in criptovalute, su appositi wallet online), che sono stati ovviamente bloccati.
Complessivamente i finanzieri sono riusciti a individuare e sequestrare beni per 10.619.000 euro e a denunciare 23 persone.
IPTV pirata: cosa rischiano gli utenti
Durante la fase finale operativa dell’operazione The Perfect Storm sono stati oscurati i siti di trasmissione del segnale IPTV illegale. In place of the video content, users saw a sign from the Guardia di Finanza explaining that the site had been shut down and that "The access data constitutes evidential material at the disposal of the Judicial Authority".
Now that the details of the operation have been revealed, therefore, this last sentence makes even more sense: the GdF has seized the servers through which the pirated content was transmitted. In these servers there are also the data of the users, both of the 5 million Italians and of those of other European countries.
It is clear that analyzing such a huge amount of data takes months, but it is also clear that now all these users are risking a lot: a fine from 2.582 to 25.822 euros and, above all, a sentence from six months to three years of imprisonment.
