The list of telephone operators offering 5G to their users expands with the new offer of Fastweb
The 5G has arrived also for Fastweb customers. In the areas already covered by the service, from the early hours of Sunday, December 27, customers of the operator with a compatible smartphone could start surfing in 5G, taking advantage of the speed of the network resulting from the agreement signed in recent months with WindTre.
After the announcement of the FWA offer, an acronym that stands for Fixed Wireless Access and indicates the wireless connection dedicated to homes, Fastweb has launched the ultra-fast service in 5G also for all its plans dedicated to mobile. As previously mentioned, this is only the beginning of a path that, in the future, will lead to expand coverage to reach an increasing number of areas in the country. From the first tests carried out, the results appear good even if not at the top: to influence is the use of a hybrid network, that is the 5G NSA, which provides for the combined use of 5G antennas and a 4G LTE network.
5G Fastweb, where the coverage arrives
Already after a few hours from the stroke of midnight, the service has become active and available for Fastweb subscribers with 5G smartphones. In line with what has been stated by the operator, at the moment the service is active in four major Italian cities, namely Milan, Bologna, Rome and Naples.
As stated by the same Fastweb, this is only a first phase, destined to expand its range of action in the near future. In fact, according to the roadmap drawn up by the operator, 5G should reach 90% of the population by the year 2025.
Fastweb 5G network: Fastweb's offer
Fastweb has chosen to make available access to the 5G network to all its users, regardless of whether they are old subscribers or new customers, without additional costs compared to what is already provided by their phone plan. The offer for new customers instead provides 50 GB of traffic and unlimited minutes to 8.95 euros per month, with SIM sent free at home and without contractual constraints.
5G Fastweb, certified smartphones
The only requirement for access, in addition to being obviously under coverage, is to connect through one of the smartphone models already certified for use on the network. Tale condizione è necessaria per poter godere appieno delle potenzialità della rete 5G dell’operatore.
