Il primo settembre 2021 scatta il primo passaggio nella roadmap verso il digitale terrestre di seconda generazione: tutte le emittenti dovranno passare dalla vecchia codifica audio/video Mpeg-2 alla nuova Mpeg-4. Many have already been doing this for months and the result is the frequent movement of channels between one Mux and another.
This is because with the new encoding, to transmit a channel, about half the space in the radio frequency spectrum is needed, so it is possible to transmit the same channels with fewer frequencies occupied. Part of the freed frequencies have already been assigned to phone operators for the 5G data network. Even at the beginning of July, therefore, the movement of channels continues, both on national Muxes and on regional and interregional ones. In some cases, broadcasters choose to move from one Mux to another, or to eliminate one or more duplicate channels. Let's see what happened in the first week of July and which channels have undergone changes.
Digitale terrestre: le novità nazionali
In the national Mux Cairo Due the La7D HD channel has been missing for a few days: the Cairo group's network dedicated to female viewers now broadcasts only in standard resolution on LCN 29, 229 and 529. It is not excluded that in the coming days La7D HD will return on a new LCN.
In the Mux Canale Italia, however, has returned on LCN 170 and 179 Italia 3 (although it still has the identifier Italia 2). The same station comes from the Mux Retecapri (where it had identical LCNs), from which it has now disappeared.
Digitale terrestre: what's new in Northern Italy
From Mux Studio 1, which broadcasts in Veneto, Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Valle d'Aosta, the broadcaster Galaxy TV 2 (former LCN 170) has been removed. This broadcaster was actually a duplicate of Galaxy TV (LCN 183), so also in this case the offer of channels does not change for users.
The LCN 170 of the Mux Canale Italia, however, now remains only for the already mentioned Italia 3 that in Northern Italy is transmitted within this Mux.
Digitale terrestre: le novità Centro Italia
Descending towards Central Italy, instead, in the Marche region there are several changes within the Mux Vera TV: in fact, channels La 9 (LCN 76), La 8 (LCN 81), Emme TV (LCN 89), Emme TV+ (LCN 605), Arte e Moda (LCN 168), fM TV (LCN 211) have been eliminated.
