Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S20 Lite: on board the Snapdragon 865 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. Arrival expected for the end of 2020 or early 2021
After the good results obtained with the Galaxy S10 Lite, a smartphone with top features and a lower price than the other premium devices of the South Korean company, Samsung tries again: in the coming months will be launched a cheaper model of Galaxy S20. This time, however, Samsung will not use the Lite suffix (which will become the official one for all low-cost smartphones), but the words "Fan Edition".
The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will be one of the company's next top-of-the-line smartphones and should be produced in both 5G and 4G versions. If Samsung follows the same timeline as last year, the phone will hit the market between late 2020 and early 2021. The launch of the device is almost certain: the SM-G780 and SM-G781 (US market) IDs are already available. The first rumors are also arriving regarding the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition's data sheet: on board should be the Snapdragon 865, one of the best processors on the market and which guarantees both top performance and 5G support.
The features of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition
For its top of the range devices Samsung usually uses Exynos processors made in-house, but already for the Galaxy S10 Lite it used the Snapdragon 855 and most likely it will do the same with the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, using, however, the next version, namely the Snapdragon 865. The only doubt concerns the 4G model, which needs a processor that doesn't have the modem for the super-fast network.
The screen should be 6.5 inches with FullHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. As for the RAM and internal memory, the smartphone should have 8GB and 128GB respectively, with the possibility to expand it via microSD.
Doubts, however, regarding the photographic compartment. Much will depend on how many cameras Samsung will decide to implement in the rear. Surely there will be a 64 or 108 Megapixel main sensor, supported by a wide-angle lens and a telezoom.
Finally, it is unlikely that the battery will be less than 4000mAh with support for fast charging.
When the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition arrives
It is still early to speculate possible release dates and launches of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. It won't arrive during the summer or even during the fall: the most likely guess is early 2021, exactly one year after the launch of the Galaxy S10 Lite.
