Once ready, however, the update will be available as always via Over-the-air update (OTA) and you won't need to connect your smartphone to your computer to install it, because it will download automatically from the manufacturer's servers. Since with these security patches many flaws are closed, some of which are even critical, as soon as the update is available it will be good to install it as soon as possible.
October Android update: what's new
In the October 2020 Android update there are only fixes to bugs that popped up especially following the release of Android 11. For example, the problem that prevented the automatic rotation of the screen on some devices has been fixed.
Also solved the problem that made the smartphone freeze during the startup of the operating system and the one that caused the disappearance of notifications about received calls. Some minor issues with swipe gestures and touch screen sensitivity when using screen protectors have also been fixed.
October Android update: security patches
More than that, the October Android update brings a lot of new security features. In fact, as many as 22 vulnerabilities specific to Qualcomm SoCs (16 high severity and 6 even critical), 5 high severity vulnerabilities for MediaTek processors and as many as 23 generic high severity vulnerabilities related to the Android operating system are fixed.
Since some of these vulnerabilities also affect previous operating systems, starting with Android 8.0, it is hoped that smartphone manufacturers will release October patches for their respective devices sooner rather than later.
October Android update: who can already download it
At the moment, the October security update is available for the Google Pixel 2, 3, 3a, 4, 4a and respective XL versions, the Samsung Galaxy S20/S20 Plus/S20 Ultra, Galaxy S10e/S10/S10 Plus, Galaxy Note 10/Note 10 Plus and Galaxy Note 20.
