Garmin in these hours has taken advantage of the American CES 2017 show to present its new line of Fenix 5 sportwatches. These are three different models, one smaller and lighter, one with intermediate dimensions while the 5X will be the first device with cartographic GPS in the Fenix family.
The three Fenix 5 models. Garmin in Las Vegas presented the successors to the popular Fenix 3 series. These are three distinct models: Fenix 5S, Fenix 5 and Fenix 5X. Different from each other in size and other small features, as well as designs designed specifically for each solution. However, the three proposals are united by the high-resolution color Chroma display, perfectly readable even under blinding sunlight. All have a steel case with integrated EXO antenna and detect both the American GPS and Russian GLONASS satellite signals. And all have a water resistance rating of up to 10ATM (about 100 meters).

The Fenix 5 is a sportwatch for professional and amateur athletes. It has a 47mm diameter case and a 1.2-inch display. Also available in Sapphire version with sapphire lens. Combination that makes it suitable for both physical activity and casual wear. It is also provided in a bundle version with HRM Tri heart rate monitor, which allows the management of running dynamics and data collected during a swimming session. It has several matching gadgets designed especially for triathlons.
Fenix 5S
This model is designed for finer and smaller wrists. It features a 42-millimeter case and a 1.1-inch display. This version can also be ordered in Sapphire, but in addition there are Silver, Champagne and Black bezel variants. The straps are also easily interchangeable. It's meant for adventurous and athletic women.
Fenix 5X
The latest model unveiled by Garmin at CES is the first to boast pre-loaded European Topo Active and Cycle Map cartography. This will allow cyclists and runners to have, after entering the distance they want to travel, suggestions on routes on which they can train, as well as the Around Me function that alerts the user to various POIs (points of interest) on geographic areas selectable from the map page or waypoints within a previously set area. Directions and curves are reported "pop-up" on the display and you can choose the data to be displayed on the map according to your needs. This version has a 51-millimeter diameter case and a 1.2-inch Sapphire lens display.
Always-connected athletes
The Garmin Fenix 5 are equipped with heart detection on the wrist so they always provide an analysis of daily physical activity. They have several preset profiles for major sports activities such as running, cycling, swimming and skiing. They also have special functions that alert the athlete in case of excessive physical exertion. They allow you to manage Smart Notification to receive from your smartphone alerts of push notifications, SMS, incoming calls and emails. As for prices, the 5 and 5S models are available at 599 euros. While the 5 and 5S sapphire start at 699 euros. For the 5X you need 749 euros instead.
