The list of the most powerful Android smartphones of the month of May 2020 has been published. Dominated, as always, by Chinese devices, it presents some surprises
Punctual as usual, the ranking of the most powerful smartphones tested in May on the AnTuTu platform has come out. Or rather, the rankings, because there are two: that of the top of the range and that of mid-range devices. There are new features in both, but the second is the most interesting.
The top of the range, in fact, despite changes in some positions does nothing but reiterate what has already been clear for months: the most powerful SoC of 2020 is the Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm. All ten of the most powerful top of the range devices, in fact, are equipped with this processor. As for RAM, however, the minimum size of a modern top of the range is 8 GB but the best devices are equipped with 12 GB.
In the mid-range, however, the SoCs that are fighting it out are five: the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L, Hisilicon's Kirin 985 and 820, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765 and Samsung's Exynos 980. In the mid-range, almost all smartphones have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. From these two rankings we can deduce that Qualcomm has fully succeeded in achieving its goal of dominating the high end of the market with the 865, but is not yet the leader in the mid-range where, instead, competition is still fierce.
