The famous group of faceless hackers has sent a video message to the CEO of SpaceX, because of a recent tweet about cryptocurrencies considered offensive.
That of Elon Musk is one of the most controversial figures of our time. Wealthy, ambitious and reckless, the next "emperor" of Mars is not only being talked about for the many projects related to SpaceX and Tesla, but also for being finished in the crosshairs of Anonymous, the famous hacking group.
The faceless hackers have in fact sent a video openly attacking the entrepreneur of the moment, because of his policy regarding Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. Video that has been published on YouTube - you can click here to see it in full -, and that has inevitably ignited the people of the web.
Covering his face with the features of Guy Fawkes, symbolic profile of the movie V for Vendetta, and heavily modifying his voice, a man addressed directly to Elon Musk with words both hard and disturbing:
In recent years you have enjoyed the best reputation than anyone else in the category of billionaires, just because you have leveraged the desire that many of us have to live in a world with electric cars and space exploration.Recently, however, people are starting to see you as just another rich narcissist who is desperate for attention.
The heavy-handed attack by Anonymous is a direct reaction to Musk's recent tongue-in-cheek tweet about Bitcoin, which the group viewed as disrespectful to all those people who decided to invest in the cryptocurrency by trusting the CEO and founder of SpaceX. Only to end up with a fistful, especially in such a socially, health and economically critical time in history.
The mysterious figure in the film continues:
Millions of investors really counted on their gains in cryptocurrency to improve their lives. Sure, they took the risk when they invested and everyone knows they need to be prepared for cryptocurrency volatility, but your tweets this week show a clear disregard for the average working person.
The Anonymous clip closes with what sounds very much like a threat directed at Elon Musk:
You may think you're the smartest person in the room, but now you've met your match. We are Anonymous! We are legion. Wait for us, we're coming.
For his part, the mogul once again relied on the pages of Twitter to respond. Choosing a sibylline approach:
Don't kill what you hate, save what you love.
It is still being investigated to understand if it is a possible danger or just a provocation of Anonymous artfully created, and due precisely to the fact that Musk is trying with his tweets to change the cryptocurrency market.
