The new top of the range 2021 will be presented next week, but Asus is already "spoilerando" several very interesting details on social.
Asus ZenFone 8 says goodbye to the flip camera and welcome, indeed "welcome back", to the audio jack. The confirmation comes directly from Asus, going against what is happening recently as more and more manufacturers are deciding to eliminate this port from the technical compartment of their smartphones.
As anticipated, the announcement comes from a source more than sure - the same company producing ZenFone 8 - through its social channels, one of the fastest and most direct vehicles in use between the major players in the industry. The choice has instilled some doubt and perplexity among users, given the orientation of manufacturers to remove the presence of this type of connector from their flagships, falling back on the use of audio devices connected via Bluetooth and allocating the space dedicated to the 3.5 mm minijack to other elements, often even thinner than the original, an increasingly important factor in cell phones in production.
Asus ZenFone 8, returns and farewells
The return of the audio jack should involve all three devices coming out within the ZenFone 8 line, at least according to the first rumors. The three smartphones, ZenFone 8, 8 Pro and 8 Mini will mark, therefore, a change of course for the Taiwanese company since on the devices of the 7 series this element had not been implemented.
To make the part of the great absent, unlike last year, is the flip camera. This particular technology allows the photo module to be used normally on the back of the phone, as well as selfie cam once out of the shell and following a 180-degree rotation on the connected side. In the new models, the company decided to introduce a traditional camera on the front side, embedded with a very small hole in the screen.
The very interesting thing, moreover, is that despite the presence of the audio jack the Asus ZenFone 8 will be resistant to water and dust: the same Asus, in fact, communicated via Twitter that it will be certified even IP68 (up to 3 m continuous depth for up to one hour, here all the details on IP certifications)
Asus ZenFone 8 series, what can we expect
Aside from the flip cam and the audio jack, very little is still known about the new smartphones produced by Asus. Surely there will be the powerful processor produced by Qualcomm, or Snapdragon 888, as regards the Mini version, then, we know that the screen will be flat and will have the size of 5.9 inches, with a refresh rate of 120Hz, with regard to performance, however, the high availability of RAM will allow you to take full advantage of this device from the small size.
In any case, we must wait a little longer for the official debut of the new phones. The date on the calendar, as confirmed by Asus itself, is May 12, at 19 hours here in Italy. Only then will it be possible to know more about the three yet-to-be-discovered devices.
