ASUS goes against the trend of most competitors: the ZenFone 8 Mini will have a "small" screen.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini will be the smallest smartphone among the top of the range planned for 2021. Going completely against the trend with what has happened in recent years, where the size of the devices even double folding on themselves, the Taiwanese company has chosen to bet its best axes on a small format, a choice that this year has undertaken only Apple with iPhone 12 mini (which, however, does not sell well as we told you here).
Small size but a power of all respect: so it presents the new device from ASUS that just in recent days is starting to show some of its most characteristic aspects on the main testing and certification sites around the world. As recently revealed by XDA Developers, ZenFone 8 Mini should have been christened with the codename "SAKE", found in the source code of the kernel of another device produced by the same company, ROG Phone 5. Now, with the appearance on Geekbench and documentation on the site of the certifying body TÜV SÜD, begins to outline the profile of the next interesting flagship product.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini, power in a small smartphone
As anticipated, the first information about the ZenFone 8 Mini model has been shown recently on Geekbench, just a short time after the appearance of the device on the site of the certifying body TÜV SÜD. The presence on the benchmarking site could derive from the internal testing phase initiated by ASUS, a complete check before making the new device official.
According to the Geekbench report, the smartphone should mount as a chip the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 (here are the characteristics of the SoC of all top of the range 2021), reported with the codename "lahaina" and a base frequency of 1.80GHz. The smartphone, indicated by the code ASUS_I006D / ASUS_ZS590KS, has reported a score of 1121 in the single-core test and 3662 in the multi-core.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini, technical characteristics
Talking about features more appreciable even by the less experienced, according to the first indiscretions ZenFone 8 Mini should be able to count on a 5.9-inch Oled display, with FHD^ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Arrives instead of Geekbench information on RAM, 16GB, along with that on the operating system, Android 11.
As for the photo / video sector, the choice would fall on a sensor Sony IMX686 64MP and a lens, always Sony, in the IMX663 model. At the moment, however, there is no other information about it and, consequently, it is not possible to confirm whether the device will have a larger photo module.
For audio, however, the protagonist is Cirrus, with an amplifier in the model CS3SL45. On the other hand, there is no official information or rumors about the battery capacity; however, according to the TÜV SÜD certification, there will be support for 30W fast charging.
