Thanks to new, more technological studios, now four Mediaset news programs are produced in high resolution: what changes for viewers
In small steps, Italian TV is changing thanks to technology and the possibilities offered by the transition to second-generation digital terrestrial television, currently underway. Mediaset, for example, has just announced a great technical innovation made possible by the new "Technological Hub" in Cologno Monzese.
This is a new complex, where there are new television studios dedicated exclusively to news programs. From these studios, four Mediaset news programmes are now broadcast in native HD, with a clear leap in video quality compared to the previous broadcast in Standard Resolution (SD), to which the so-called "upscaling" was applied.
Now, thanks to the new equipment in the Cologno Monzese studios, the four news programmes are already in HD and the video stream travels across the airwaves in HD.
Mediaset in HD, do you have to retune?
The news, of course, only concerns Mediaset channels in HD: those in standard resolution cannot show a high-resolution video stream. To fully enjoy the high resolution in Mediaset news, therefore, you will have to choose to watch the HD versions of the respective channels, transmitted with the Mpeg-4 codec.
You will not have to retune your TV because those channels were already broadcasting in high resolution, even if in the case of the news it was an upscaling of a video stream in low resolution.
