Some Indian users have been given the option to experiment with audio clips in status updates by Facebook. Here's what's changing for users
Initially, you could only update your Facebook status with a text message. Then images and videos were added. Next came the ability to share news articles, post GIFs, and create polls. Now Facebook is ready to add a new feature to status updates: audio clips.
This new possibility for the moment has been released only to a small number of Indian users. Interviewed by journalists from TechCrunch (US news site), Facebook developers have confirmed that they are working on this new feature. If it will be made official and available to everyone, it will be one more tool offered to users to get in touch with their friends. Audio clips are not really new, being already present within Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. But on Facebook, they could have a slightly different role and allow users to create a small personal podcast.
How to record audio messages as status updates
Recording audio clips to post as status updates will be very simple. When you enter your profile, click on the white space dedicated to status updates and a pop-up menu will open with all the possibilities: photos, videos, GIFs, polls. In the first positions we'll find "Add Voice Clip". Pressing on the tool we will begin to record an audio clip that will be posted on our wall and will appear in the News section of our friends who can listen to it. As mentioned at the beginning, the function for the moment is only available to some Indian users and is in the testing phase.
The development of this new function could be linked to the realization by Facebook of a smart speaker for the home. Portal, this is the name of the device, will be integrated with the social network and will make it easier for users to share their thoughts through audio clips.
