Here comes Ying, the $299 social drone launched by WeChat

The quadricopter, made in collaboration with Zerotech and Qualcomm, will be able to send high-resolution photos, high-definition videos and send everything on social

For a few years now, drones have been part of our lives. From war instruments, these small flying objects are now used in numerous activities, from professional to amateur video shooting. Now there is also a social drone launched by the Chinese messaging company WeChat.

Ying, this is the name of the aircraft, can be controlled directly from your smartphone and given its small size can be slipped into a bag and carried easily thanks to its 420 grams of weight. Ying has been realized in collaboration with two companies operating in the field of high technology: Zerotech and Qualcomm. What strikes you at first glance is definitely the low price. In fact, to buy Ying will only need 299 dollars. Nothing considering the prohibitive prices that quadricopters with similar features to the one launched by WeChat have.

Ying features

Ying has an HD camera with 180° angular vision, can record 4K video and take high-resolution photos thanks to the 13-megapixel camera. One feature that may be of interest especially to social lovers is the ability to stream HD images at 720p. For the time being, the only two social networks that will be able to receive recordings will be WeChat and QQ.

This affordable and high-performance little gem will go on sale starting October 30. Ying will only be available for the Chinese market, while there is no word on when the Asian company will spread the drone to other markets as well.
