Is your Amazon smart speaker no longer working or do you need to give it back? First of all, you need to reset it to factory settings. Here's how to do it
Suddenly, the honeymoon is over. After using your Amazon Echo for weeks, the e-commerce giant's smart speaker has suddenly stopped working. Not only does it no longer respond to your voice commands, but you can't even sync it from your smartphone so you can check if there have been any changes in the device's settings.
A nice headache that, luckily for you, you can fix pretty quickly. Like any other electronic device, in fact, the Amazon Echo (any model: from the small Dot to the Plus, through the Spot equipped with a screen) can be reset to factory settings, so that it can perform the initial configuration again and synchronize with the Alexa app. Don't know how to reset Amazon Echo? No problem: in the following guide, you'll find all the relevant directions so that you can get back to using your smart speaker in no time.
How to reset Amazon Echo Dot (3rd generation), Amazon Echo Input and Amazon Echo Sub
In case you own an Echo Dot or an Echo Input or an Echo Sub and you need to reset it, know that you don't have to struggle much. Just hold down the action button for 25 seconds and wait for a confirmation message. At this point you can open the Alexa app on your smartphone and start configuring the smart speaker.
How to reset Amazon Echo (2nd generation)
To reset the Amazon Echo, however, you'll need to press the Mute and Volume Minus key combination for about 20 seconds. After this time, the glowing ring will turn orange: this means that the Amazon Echo has been restored to factory settings and is ready to be configured again.
How to reset Amazon Echo Plus (2nd generation)
To reset the Amazon Echo Plus you'll be able to follow two different procedures, depending on whether you want to keep the connections with the smart home devices you previously synced or you want to delete those as well. In the first case, you'll just need to press the Action button for 20 seconds. If, on the other hand, you want to restore Amazon Echo Plus to factory settings and delete any data in its memory, you'll have to press the Mute and Volume Down buttons at the same time for 20 seconds and wait for the light ring to turn on, turn off and turn on again. At this point you can open the Alexa app and configure it all over again.
How to reset Amazon Echo Show
Echo devices equipped with a screen, however, have a different reset procedure than the ones seen so far. You'll need to say the Go to Settings command (or swipe from top to bottom and select Settings from the menu that appears on the screen), choose Device Options and then Reset to Factory Settings.
