Huawei unveils a new mid-range smartphone with a high-end photo compartment and a low-end price
Huawei has already started unveiling its cards for 2021. Next year, making its way through the ranks of the P Smart series will be the new Huawei P Smart 2021: it has just been unveiled to the general public and has already attracted attention thanks to a list of features that could allow it to stand out without too much effort among smartphones in the same range. Despite the now well-known lack of Google services.
With the new P Smart 2021, the Chinese giant has focused mainly on photography. In fact, the cameraphone is equipped with five cameras, including one front and four on the back. The first one has a resolution of 18 megapixels and F/2.0 aperture while the other rear ones differ sensitively from each other. This is a primary sensor of 48 megapixels and F/1.8 aperture, a second 8MP ultra-wide angle 120 degrees and F/2.4, a third dedicated to the depth of 2MP and a fourth, also 2MP, exploitable for macro shots. With this set-up, at least on paper, the P Smart 2021 could therefore allow the user to take all kinds of shots, from panoramas to close-up photos without having to resort to the use of digital cameras to get the highest quality.
Huawei P Smart 2021: in addition to the cameras there is more
To take advantage of all the features available on this budget smartphone, Huawei has thought of mounting a battery with accumulation capacity of 5000 mAh, with the possibility of fast charging up to 22.5 watts. To pay the costs of this choice, however, is the design: in fact, due to the size of the battery, the thickness of the phone is a good 9.26 millimeters, that is 1.26 millimeters more than its predecessor dated 2020.
Huawei P Smart 2021: data sheet
For the screen, the company has chosen to mount a 6.67-inch display with IPS LCD technology and full HD resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. At the top center position, a hole houses the 8 MP front-facing camera. For the "mind", however, the choice fell on a solution already adopted by Huawei in the recent past: it is a Kirin 710A octacore CPU, namely four ARM Cortex-A53 cores and as many ARM Cortex-A73, for a maximum of 2.2 GHz clock. Note that this SoC, designed by Huawei, is no longer physically produced by TSMC but by the Chinese SMIC due to the well-known vicissitudes that prevent TSMC from working for Huawei from 15 September 2020.
4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB memory, expandable via microSD card, complete the equipment. Connectivity-wise, the cameraphone relies on Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11n and LTE while for the operating system, the choice has fallen on Android 10 with Huawei EMUI 10.1. As imaginable, the P Smart 2021 will also have to do without Google services and its apps. Instead, you'll be able to find everything offered by Huawei's services and AppGallery. It is not known, however, if in the future the Huawei P Smart 2021 will be upgradable to HarmonyOS, the new operating system 100% Huawei for smartphones without Android.
Huawei P Smart 2021: price and availability
Available in three colors, black, green and gold, the latest arrival of the Chinese company will be sold from the second half of October at just over 200 euros, in line with the 2020 version. For the launch on the Italian market, however, we must wait for confirmations since at the moment the countries that can buy the new Huawei P Smart 2021 are Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Estonia.
