Setting up a hotspot allows surrounding devices to access a smartphone's mobile data network. When setting it up, however, the host must ensure that it has enough data volume available, since all other logged-on devices consume it in parallel.

iPhone X: How to set up the hotspot

Setting up a hotspot is quite simple. However, the range is limited and therefore only works in close proximity.

1. To set up a hotspot, you must first go to the settings on your iPhone X.
2. There you navigate to "Mobile Network" and activate the option "Personal Hotspot". To do this, you only need to flip the switch in the menu.
3. Furthermore, you should assign a password for the hotspot in this step, because otherwise every surrounding subscriber has unrestricted access to your data volume.

iPhone X: USB tethering for computers - a special hotspot

1. Through USB tethering, the data volume can be used by a computer connected with a USB cable.
2. Dazu navigieren Sie zunächst zu Persönlicher Hotspot.
3. Verbinden Sie nun das Smartphone mit dem Computer und bestätigen Sie die Frage „Diesem Computer vertrauen?“.
4. Nun aktivieren Sie den persönlichen Hotspot durch Aktivieren des Schiebers.
5. Es kann vorkommen, dass zur Einrichtung der Verbindung ein weiteres Fenster erscheint, in dem Sie auf „Nur USB“ tippen.
6. Für gewöhnlich wird die Verbindung jedoch automatisch erkannt und eingerichtet.
