Android Q: Setting up a hotspot - what you should know

If you're out and about and one of your friends doesn't have Internet or you want to share your data volume with your laptop, then you can use the Android hotspot feature. With this it is possible to turn your smartphone into a WLAN router. Normally, this is done quite easily via the settings.

How to set up a hotspot on Android Q

Android Q is the tenth version of the popular operating system. If you have inserted a SIM card into the device and selected the appropriate contract, then you can use mobile data. Thus, it is possible for you to access the Internet on the go. If there is no WLAN nearby that you could use to surf with your laptop, then it is possible to open a hotspot with your smartphone. Then connect the laptop to the hotspot.
  1. First open the settings of your Android Q device.
  2. Then go to the menu item "Connections".
  3. In the next step, select the option "Hotspot and Tethering".
  4. Here you can now select the item "Enable WLAN hotspot".
  5. Add also a password, so that not everyone can connect to the hotspot.
  6. Finally confirm the setting via "Set up WLAN hotspot".
  7. Now you can find your smartphone with your laptop and connect to it after entering the password.
