Mac: Ejecting a CD - this is how it works

If there is a CD in the drive of your Mac that you would like to remove, there are several methods for doing so. The fastest way to remove the CD is to press the "Eject" button on the keyboard.
  1. To eject the CD via the desktop, please select the CD there and go to "File" > "Eject CD/DVD".
  2. Alternatively, the ejection of the CD is also possible via the Finder. Open this first by clicking on the "Finder icon". Then look in the sidebar for the name of the CD and click next to the "Eject icon".
  3. If the CD can not be ejected otherwise, the way via the terminal can help. To do this, enter the command "drutil tray eject" in the open terminal and confirm with the "Enter" key.

If you have problems ejecting a CD, this can have various reasons.
