WLAN connection to FritzBox via WPS - that's possible

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is a method that automatically sets up WLAN connections on your devices. For this, the respective device must support WPS, but this is the case with most devices nowadays. You can then connect to the wireless network by pressing a button.

Setting up a WLAN connection to the FritzBox via WPS

If you would like to connect new devices within your home network to your WLAN by pressing a button, then this is possible via WPS. In this case, the setup of WLAN connections is automatically taken over. However, this only works if the device also supports WPS. This is already the case with many Android smartphones, speakers, Windows computers and other WLAN-enabled devices. In addition, you must first set up the function.

1. First, call up the user interface of your FritzBox in a browser of your choice.
2. Log in with your user data and click on "WLAN".
3. Now click on "Security" and switch to the tab "WPS Fast Connection".
4. Here, activate the option "WPS" and select the item "Push Button Method (WPS-PBC, Push Button Configuration)".
5. Bestätigen Sie die Änderung über „WPS starten“.
6. Als nächstes müssen Sie das jeweilige Gerät mit der Fritzbox verbinden.
7. Bei einem Windows-10-Gerät müssen Sie hierfür auf die Einstellungen gehen und anschließend auf „Netzwerk und Internet“ > „WLAN“.
8. Bei den Verbindungen klicken Sie auf Ihr Netz und anschließend auf „Verbinden“.
9. Nun wird angezeigt, dass Sie den Netzwerkschlüssel eingeben sollen. Drücken Sie stattdessen auf die WLAN-Taste am Router, bis die dazugehörige LED blinkt.
10. Bestätigen Sie am PC die Meldung mit „JA“, wird die Verbindung hergestellt.
