Fix Windows 10: Temporary Profile - here's how
If you get a message after upgrading to Windows 10 that you are using a temporary profile, there is a problem with your user profile link. With a temporary profile, you can only use Windows with extreme restrictions.
Fix a temporary profile - here's how
If the "Temporary profile" error occurs, it is often due to an incorrect entry in the registry. Try in such a case to restart the PC. In many cases, this is already enough to solve the problem. If the restart is not enough, however, you have to solve the error manually in the registry.- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys to call the Run dialog.
- Open the registry by entering "regedit" in the input field and confirm with the Enter key.
- Find the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
- Select the registry key, you will be shown several subkeys. Two of the subkeys have the same name, except for the ".bak" suffix.
- Remove the subkey that does not have the BAK suffix.
- Then select the remaining subkey with the BAK suffix and press [F2] to rename the key.
- Löschen Sie die Endung „.bak“ und speichern Sie die Änderung.
- Starten Sie abschließend den Rechner neu.
