Excel: Sorting rows - creating the right order
If you want to use a spreadsheet program, you usually can't get around Excel. The Microsoft tool has become the standard for all spreadsheet-related calculations. In doing so, it offers many different functions, such as sorting rows, that you can use to make your spreadsheets even clearer.
How to sort rows in Excel
In Excel, you can not only sort alphabetically, but also make your own settings by which to sort. You can sort by cell as well as by column.- Open the document in which a table is to be sorted and go to the "Data" tab.
- Here you now click on the "Sort" option and select "Options..." in the top right of the window that now opens.
- Now you can decide whether you prefer to sort by rows or by columns. Select "Sort rows" and then click "OK".
- Now you can choose how you want to sort. If your table has several columns, you can decide under column by which to sort. Mit „Reihenfolge“ legen Sie fest, wie sortiert werden soll und unter „Sortieren nach“ nach welchem Wert sortiert wird.
- Sobald Sie mit „OK“ bestätigen, wird die Tabelle Ihren Einstellungen entsprechend sortiert.
