Deleting MBR - these steps are necessary
MBR is an old partition standard that is now increasingly being replaced by other partition tables. If you do not want to use MBR on your PC or data medium anymore, there is the possibility to delete MBR.
What is MBR
MBR is the abbreviation for "Master Boot Record" and refers to an area of your hard disk. MBR is not only used on computers, but also on USB sticks, memory cards and hard disks. However, since MBR is now increasingly being replaced by the new partition standard GPT, it can make sense to delete MBR. This is especially useful if you use disks with more than 2 TB of storage space or want to install Linux as an operating system on your PC.How to delete MBR from your computer
If you no longer need MBR and use a Windows PC, you can delete the partition table via the Windows command line. To do this, press the key combination of "Windows key" + "R" to open the Run dialog and run the command "cmd". Please note that you need administrator rights for the deletion.- In the command line, first enter the command "list disk" and confirm with "Enter" to get an overview of all connected disks.
- Then execute the command "select disc X", replacing "X" with the drive letter.
