Google Maps: Entering a waypoint on iPhone

If you regularly use Google Maps on your iPhone as a navigator, it's useful to know how to enter a waypoint. This allows you to make a quick stop for lunch, pick up a friend, and more.

How to enter a waypoint in Google Maps on iPhone

With Google Maps, you can quickly find the shortest or even the fastest way. But if you want to make some stops on the way to your destination, Google Maps will determine a much more effective route if you enter these stops on your iPhone as intermediate destinations.
  1. Open the Google Maps app on your iPhone.
  2. Now enter your desired destination. Select here, however, not your intermediate stop, but your final destination. You can now already start the navigation.
  3. Tap then on top of the magnifying glass icon.
  4. Now search for the place you want to enter as a stopover in Google Maps. Have you found the destination, tap on "Insert stop".
  5. Google Maps will now guide you first to your intermediate destination and then to the final destination.
If you enter multiple intermediate destinations, Google Maps will calculate the fastest route for you. However, if you want to reach multiple destinations in a specific order, then simply drag the destinations above into the correct order before you start navigation. Eventuell müssen Sie dafür die Navigation kurz unterbrechen, damit Maps den Weg neu berechnet.
