Google Chrome: Change background - how it works

The Google Chrome browser can be customized in many ways. The background of the Chrome home page is white by default. However, you can change this using various themes from the Chrome Web Store. Depending on how you want to customize your background, different steps are required.

Your own home page: You can set your Chrome background yourself.

Chrome: Change background - own images or Chrome selection possible

If you want to change the background in Google Chrome this is possible via a design from the Google Web Store.

1. Open the Chrome browser and click on the three dots in the top right corner.
2. Select the entry "Settings". Switch to "Appearance" on the left and click on the "arrow" icon to the right of "Designs".
3. Now you are in the Web Store and can choose between numerous designs, which also customize the background.
4. If you like a design, click on it and then click "Add". The design is now automatically adopted.

Use your own image as background

If you want to provide the background with your own image instead of a full design, then this is possible via the "Customize" function of the browser.

1. Open an empty window or tab in Chrome. If you have set a home page other than Google, it is best to switch directly to Google.
2. Click the "Customize" button at the bottom right, which is marked with a pencil icon.
3. You now have three menus. At "Background" you can choose from different designs or even upload a photo yourself via the very first field. Click on an option to select an image.
4. Click on "Done" to apply the background.
