Star Citizen: Mining Explained - Making Money with Mining

The mining plans for Star Citizen were known for a long time, but were not implemented until 2019. Since then, there's more for players to do in the Alpha universe. We explain how mining works.

Mining, or mining, is an important and extensive profession in Star Citizen. Players in version 3.7 (and following) should therefore deal with it.

Star Citizen: Mining with your character finally possible

Mining is possible by ship or directly with your character. The latter activity is called FPS mining and yields less, but does not require an expensive special ship:

• For FPS mining you need a tool ("Greycat Pyro RYT Multitool") with mining attachment ("Ore Bit Mining Attachment"). Together, the cost is not even 1,000 UEC.
• In addition, the "MacFlex Arms Orange "Backpack" Core" is highly recommended, as it greatly increases your inventory. The backpack costs a little over 3,000 UEC.

You can get the equipment from various merchants at the major spaceports. To use it, you need to find mining deposits - without a special mining ship, you can not scan areas unfortunately.Caves on planets and moons are therefore popular, because there are often deposits to be found. During the mining process you must calibrate the strength of the beam so that the green bar on the left is filled.You can sell the extracted ores at any ship terminal at uniform prices. If you find a particularly profitable spot, you can unload your full inventory in the cargo hold of your ship.For ship mining, there is so far only one suitable ship, namely the MISC Prospector for 167 euros. With 3.8, this is supposed to change and in addition to the larger ship selection, you should also have several options in the FPS mining tools in the future.
